Practical Guide

Workshop Venue

The workshop will be held at the Godavari Village Resort in Kathmandu. Venue and travel information is given below.

Hotel and Airport Transfers

Participants who have chosen the accommodation package will be staying at the Godavari Village Resort: www.godavariresort.com.np/

A representative of the ‘Godavari Village Resort’ will stand at the exit of the airport guiding participants to the hotel’s mini bus. The drive from the airport to the hotel takes 45 minutes or more in the case of heavy traffic.

Taxis can be hired just before leaving the airport that will take you to the resort. However we encourage you to use the Resort’s transport in preference to a taxi.

Please download this map for your orientation.

Visas

Nationals from: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Swaziland, Zimbabwe; need to secure a visa from the Nepalese Embassy or Consulate office located in their region prior to departure. The NFRTD will issue a letter to people fro the above countries registering for the workshop, to assist them in securing the visa.

Nationals other than those listed above can easily obtain a visa upon arrival in the airport (Tribhuwan International Airport) in Kathmandu. Make sure to bring a few sets of passport sized photos with you. Visa fees are $60 for a 60 day visa.

Climate

November is the beginning of Winter in Kathmandu. It is typically warm during the day and chilly at night. Temperatures may vary from +20 to +2. We advise that you bring light to medium warm clothing along and some warm sweaters or pullovers for cooler evenings.

Etiquette

Some simple guidelines to Nepalese etiquette:

  1. Before entering a Nepalese home, temple or Stupa remember to remove your shoes.
  2. While travelling dress appropriately. Women should avoid revealing outfits.
  3. Seek permission first before entering a Hindu temple. Many Hindu temples do not allow non-Hindus to enter. Leather articles are prohibited inside the temple.
  4. Take photographs only after receiving permission for the object or person you are photographing.
  5. Exchange money only through authorised banks and money dealers.
  6. Insist upon receiving a receipt when you exchange money.
  7. Ensure that you do not purchase banned wildlife products or artifacts over 100 years old. In such cases you will require a special certificate from the concerned Government Authorities.
