TRANSPORT SECTOR PERFORMANCE AND IMPACT INDICATORS
A Consultative Workshop
Perú, Tarapoto, March 12-16, 2007
This workshop is the latest in a workshop series organised by the IFRTD in collaboration with the Transport and Urban Division of the World Bank. It is hosted by the Foro Nacional de Transporte Rural y Desarollo de Peru with the support of Provías Descentralizado (Rural Roads Programme Phase III).
The workshop aims to expand awareness of new trends for transport sector data management and the processes of monitoring the sector's performance in respect of national and development targets. It will also identify critical aspects of the need for reliable data in the transport sector; analyse transport sector data presently available in relation to local, national and regional priorities and identify shortfalls; and assess current and perceived future requirements for statistical information and key gaps.
It will bring together 25 participants from 12 Latin American countries. Participants will need a good grasp of transport sector policy, planning and management. Emphasis would be put on the rural access index as well as on urban mobility and trade logistics. Subthematic presentations will include gender, waterways, planning and national security. The World Bank's work during past years on the sector performance will provide the background for presentations and discussions. A field trip is also forseen.
Applications for participation are invited before February 9, 2007. Please contact the ifrtd secretariat office in LA: ana.bravo@ifrtd.org or Peru NFG: mategusa@yahoo.com to obtain an application form.
