Cambodia National Community of Transport Practitioners (CNCTP) drafts their Strategy for 2007-2010

The Cambodian National Community of Transport Practitioners (CNCTP) is a network in Cambodia consisting of Government, NGO, Professional Bodies, Universities, Consultants and Private sector connected to the transport sector. In 2006 CNCTP became affiliated to the IFRTD Asia Network as the Cambodian NFG.

Heng Kackada, Secretary of CNCTP said that a strategy is being drafted for the period of 2007-2010. A draft strategy was prepared to fall in line with the new IFRTD strategy 2007-2011 and circulated among the membership of CNCTP. A meeting was called on the 12th July, 2007 to discuss the draft strategy. This meeting was facilitated by His Excellency Sous Kong, Secretary of State, Ministry of Rural Development in Cambodia and among the participants were delegates from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Institute of Technology Cambodia, Engineering Institution of Cambodia, IFRTD, UNOPS, TRL UK, Handicap International, KfW, KACE Limited and independant Consultants.

The CNCTP draft strategy will:

  • Ensure the interests of national rural transport practitioners are represented in the policies and practice s of the development of rural transport sector. 
  • Commit for provision of sustainable transport  access for the rural poor.
  • Champion rural transport issues and act as a clearing house for national-driven     information dissemination.
  • Continue to pioneer collaborative National-driven initiative and action research.
  • Champion Rural Road Safety.
  • Stimulate and support network activity
